Fran Evan
Teacher

Fran Evan was born in Marshall, Alaska, in 1955. She grew up in various seasonal camps and in Marshall with her family. She attended school in St. Mary's and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1974. She went to college at KUCC for one and a half years. She has worked at the Head Start for eight years and is planning to work there until she finds a better job, is fired, or resigns. Fran likes her job working with the children because they are fascinating. They grow so much physically and intellectually in the two years they are in preschool.

The kind of training she needed was child development, behavior management, creative curriculum, lesson planning, and First Aid/CPR. She also took courses for her Child Development Associate (CDA) degree and was certified in 1995. She feels that her job keeps her stimulated because it keeps her on her toes. It keeps her getting up early and always challenged.

The best thing she likes about her job is the kids, the training, and friendships with the parents. The worst thing is when they are behind on paperwork and deadlines.

Fran has a family and when her two month old baby wakes up at two o'clock in the morning and refuses to sleep, she goes to work sleepy and can't do her job as well as she would like.
