David Fitka
Supervisor

David Fitka was born here in Marshall on the sixteenth of May, 1961. He grew up in Marshall and went to school here until the eighth grade. He went to high school in Bethel for his freshmen year, then he went to school at Emmonak where he graduated in 1979.

He didn't go to college, but he went to a technical school in Oklahoma where he earned some college credits.

David has been working for the Marshall Water and Sewer Department since 1991, and he plans to work there as long as he can. He likes his job because it involves many different things, from digging a hole in the ground to driving a dump truck. After the job was suggested to him many years ago, David took the job and stuck to it. He especially was interested in the construction work. He didn't have any training, but later he received training from the State. There were two short training workshops that lasted five days each.

David said that he learns new things every day on his job, and he likes the thought of the community having safe drinking water. He also likes being able to construct things. He doesn't like dealing with the sewer because it is a pretty dirty job.

He has a family of four which includes his wife Liz, oldest daughter Kimberly, youngest daughter Jaylene and son Daniel. He doesn't really let his work interfere with his family, and they do encourage him. He also does a lot with his family that doesn't have to do with his job.
