Barbara Fitka-Duny
Teacher/Director

Barbara Fitka Duny was born in Marshall in 1962. She grew up in Marshall with her family, went to school here and graduated in 1982. She attended college in Bethel but did not graduate.

Barbie has worked with the Head Start for 11 years and plans to work there as long as she can. She likes her job because she enjoys working with 3-5 year olds. She became interested in working with Head Start students because she always watched her nieces and nephews when she was growing up.

The kind of training she received for her job was in early childhood education. Barbie received her Child Development Associate (CDA) degree in early childhood and parenting training. She feels her job keeps her stimulated because she works a lot with parents trying to make them understand more about their own children and how to be good parents.

The best thing that Barbie likes about her job is her summers off. The worst thing is the small building they're in. Head Start needs a bigger building for the increase in kids that register every year.

Barbie has a family, and if it weren't for them, she might feel that she wouldn't have to work. Life's many bills keep her working.
