Richard Olsen's Xmas Vacation

Richard and Janice don't like traveling during the Christmas holiday because of the crowded airplanes and people pushing each other around. So they invited their kids, Marc, 24 years old, and Lorah, 15 years old, to spend Christmas here with them.

They arrived Saturday morning, the week we got out of school. Lorah and Marc were used to traveling both in Alaska and in a small plane. They both enjoyed Marshall and liked doing different things. The best part of their stay was when Tom Andrew invited them on a fishing trip back behind Marshall. Since there wasn't a lot of snow, Richard used his 4-wheeler with Lorah riding in the back. Besides getting stuck a couple of times, they had an enjoyable time.

Richard's kids also enjoyed the community Christmas program and the presentation done by Tom's class. Marc also went on a sled dog team with David Fitka and he really enjoyed it.

Richard said the saddest moment of the holiday was when he had to watch his children fly off because he wouldn't see them again for several months.

The rest of his vacation was spent here in Marshall trying to keep busy. But the time flew by fast, and before they knew it school was already here again.
