Paul Boots's
Summer
Paul Boots had a very busy summer.
Over the summer Paul fished whenever the fishing season opened. He
would fish during both commercial and subsistence openings. When
commercial fishing he would deliver his fish to either Boreal Fish
Processors below Pitka's Point or to the Marshall Fish Plant
(M.F.P.). He said, "While fishing, I had fun even though I had a hard
time with some of the fish in my net."
When he wasn't fishing he would be
working at the school for 12 hours a day, from early morning until
late in the evening. He said, "Working 12 hours a day was not so good
for him because it tires me out."
Besides fishing and working, Paul
went out berry picking, net setting, hunting and logging. He said, "That was
the only time I got to use my boat because somebody else
was using it."
While he was home in Marshall he went
downtown to visit his brother, Johnny Boots. After visiting him, he
would go and visit Alexander Isaac. While visiting Alexander, they
talked and also told stories. When he was at his own house he would
saw and chop wood, then bring the cut wood indoors. He would also
take steam baths with other men.
