Weather Story
On February 16, 1996, right after school my dad
and Nathan were planning to go to Russian Mission for the races. I
couldn't go because I had the flu. Two other snow machines went with
my dad. One carried two Pilot Station girls and J.B. and Lois rode on
the other. J.B. had an old snow machine that likes to breakdown all
the time. They decided to go on the Kuigpagamut trail in Kuik. The
weather got worse as they were going. My dad brought his GPS 40 with
him so they wouldn't get lost in the blizzard. The visibility was
getting poor and the snow was turning into rain. J.B. and Lois broke
down quit a few miles back and they had to look for them. The Pilot
Station girls kept on going up to Russian Mission. My dad found them
but the weather was getting worse and they had to turn back to
Marshall. The next morning the two of them got ready to go by the
back trail. My dad brought rain gear with him so he wouldn't get wet.
They left about 4:30 while I stayed in my gram's house. Later that
night around I 1:00 they came in all wet and cold. My dad told his
mom about the trip.the creeks were thawed out, the trail was really
bumpy, the visibility was bad, our snow machine was running out of
gas, they were in waist deep snow, and they had to turn
back.
