Dolphins in the
Yukon
"My summer vacation began the minute
I left for my mother's fish camp. It took a lot of planning, packing,
moving, with boxes and other stuff before we really got settled into
the camp. I felt that all that work was nothing compared to the
peaceful scenery at camp and the excitement in the faces of my
nephews and nieces and everyone else in the family I hadn't seen in
such a very long time.
In the early part of July my nephew
and his fishing partner ran up to the house and said that there were
two dolphins swimming up the river. We all ran down to the beach to
check, but they were hard to see so we decided to go in one of the
boats to get a closer look. They almost looked like salmon but
different because they were bigger in size with white
backs.
We tried to drive them towards the
beach, but we didn't succeed, so we followed them up the river until
they split and went in different directions. It was a unique
experience because it was the first time I had seen them around my
mother's camp.
Every summer I look forward to going
back to fish camp because there is always a new adventure and an
opportunity to experience something new.
