The Title VII, Indian Education program is directly funded by the Federal Government's Office of Indian Education. The KPBSD has approximately 1,000 enrolled Native students in the Title VII program. Title VII students who need assistance receive tutoring in reading, language arts, and math. Tutors also help students with required history and science classes when necessary.

Teaching Tlingit language and History to students in the K-12 program. Develop new curriculum and classroom activities daily; teach on a daily basis. In addition, support the Northwest Coast Native Arts program. Students learn traditional art forms and create many pieces of artwork and regalia. Produce a newsletter that is sent to each household every month that highlights student accomplishments The goal is to teach the students the importance of who they are and why it is so vital to have a good education.

The Tlingit K-3 program is the first bilingual and bicultural classroom in the Juneau School District and the only course of its kind in Southeast Alaska. One of the goals of the program is to increase academic success of Alaska Native children by instilling pride of heritage in students, who range in age from kindergarten through third grade. The TREE Program uses a two-pronged approach to enhance educational assistance to Alaska Native students to help them pass the newly implemented High School Graduation Qualifying Exam. The pilot project will focus on East and West high schools in year one, and expand to Dimond and Bartlett high schools in year two. The second component will assist Alaska Native Teacher Aides to achieve Alaska Teacher Certification by preparing them for the Praxis I skills test through a two-week test preparation institute.
