Kawerak's Eskimo Heritage Program (EHP) was created in 1981 to record and preserve information pertaining to the Region's culture and history, and makes them available for research and educational purposes. For the past three years, EHP has received funding from the National Park Service's Beringia Heritage Program to translate, transcribe, and develop a management system from a collection of rare, taped interviews with native elders throughout the area. This data represents the knowledge of three indigenous groups in the Region - Inupiat, Central Yup'ik, and Siberian Yupik - and contains a wealth of information about their cultures, traditions and history.
