Kanakngaq emphasizes Native heritage and offers a camaraderie which provide support to keep students in school. The program aims at reducing the drop-out rate and promoting development of positive self-esteem by integrating Native culture and values into the classes and enhancing multicultural education for all students. Our small school approach within a large comprehensive high school allow students to benefit by developing close ties among other students, staff and the Native community.
