Box 398 Valdez, AK 99686 Program encompasses a variety of educational and preventative programs for students in grades K-12. We sponsor a school year tutor program called Valdez Reads, where trained volunteers work one-on-one with Indian Education students in grades 1-6. We are now training high school students to become reading tutors in this program for service credit. The Bookworm Reading Club is aimed at all students in Grades K-3 and focuses on a seven week reading program that has a shared home/school base. We offer after school tutoring for students in grades 3-12, maintaining a weekly communication with parents. Native Youth Olympics is supported by our Indian Education program, is school based, and emphasizes academic success as a participation requirement. Our Indian Education program also sponsors a monthly district wide newsletter which establishes a strong communication base throughout our district families.
