Iņupiat Ilitqusiat is not a program; it is a way
of life, which
we have defined as ours. What have been defined as "Iņupiat
Values," upon
closer inspection, are really basic human values. It is what makes us different
from other people; not more than someone else and not less than someone
else, just different.
Reggie Joule
Kotzebue, Alaska
University of Alaska Anchorage student Christine
Ahlalook submitted the cover photo of her sister, Della, playing on the
tundra.
The cover definition of the Ilitqusiat program
was taken from an interview conducted by Kiana High School students.
"Those things that make us who we are," is
a translation of Ilitqusiat by Reggie Joule, taken from the same interview.
The Inupiat Ilitqusiat program translates
the word as "Inner spirit in our heart."
