Frank Keim's classes. He has wanted to share these works for others
to use as an example of Culturally-based curriculum and documentation. These

Much Excitement During My
Vacation
During the holiday I stayed with my
friend Charlotte Alstrom, and visited with Barbara and Babes. I
watched movies and played Sega and Super Nintendo. I also watched
Marshall Women's and Men's League basketball games here in the gym.
The Blazers played against Pilot Station Lady Hawks, and the Marshall
Blues and Bobcats played the Pilot Station Knights and Outlaws. The
Pitka's Point Dreamers also came up and played against the Marshall
Blues and Bobcats.
On the eighth of January, after the
Russian Orthodox Church service, they began Slavic at Mr. and Mrs.
Alexander Isaac's. From there they went to Paul Boot's. They fed
people in both houses, and about four hours later they went to Leslie
Hunter's house, and he also fed in there.
During New Year's Eve, after they
sang some songs, my uncles, Wesley and Walter, shot their guns
outside of our house. They each shot four times. This was a tradition
they brought from Chuathbaluk.
Nick Isaac, the leader of the choir,
left for Kwethluk where he had to go through a ceremony with Bishop
Innocent who ordained him as a Sub-Deacon of the Russian Orthodox
Church. Nick traveled all the way to Kwethluk by snowmachine with his
wife and two youngest children. The night he arrived back in Marshall
they ate at my house where there were a lot of other people who came
to eat too.
Around 2:00 A.M., after everyone
finally got through eating at our house, they moved on to Clara
Shorty's. When they got through singing there, they went to Nastasia
Turet's where she fed them. I waited at my house for a while and
later went to Nus's where there were still a lot
of people. In the room across from
Nus's we teens had fun talking and bothering each other. There were
some boys who played with lighters in inappropriate places, but it
was silly. We all were laughing and enjoying each other's company.
Around 7:00 A.M. everyone finally left, and we went to Andy Boot's.
From there we went to Kathy Peteroff's. The only new housing we
skipped were Terri Manumik's and Fran Evan's.
So you can see, my Christmas vacation
was just loaded with fun and excitement.
