Cultivate friends unlike yourself.  It is better both for them and for you.

Most Type-A people prefer to associate with other aggressive, fast-moving Type-A's.  And so it is hard for Type-A's to learn other behaviors.  They have seen so little of that other world.  Try to cultivate relationships with people who are not Type-A's.  Of course, that will mean slowing yourself down and listening to them in a way that may be new to you.

Even in your relationships with Type-A people, pay attention to them.  Try to listen to them.  Try to understand what is behind their drive to dominate you and others.  The most successful and creative people have gotten where they are because of their wide knowledge and extensive personal relationships.  In any contact with another person, ask yourself:  What can I learn from this person?  Don't rest content until you feel you have learned something fromthe interaction with them.

This is probably easier with flextime (22) since friends unlike yourself are likely to have different schedules.  Let them see your human identity (39).  Listen to accents (41) to avoid possible misunderstandings between people who are different from each other.  Be vulnerable (43) to the risk of the changes that may take place as you cultivate your own humanity (49).
