Florence's Akiak
Vacation
Florence went with the Marshall
Fiddlers to Akiak from December 28-31.
The first night she was there she
went to the square dance. She didn't dance that much, and mostly sat
around and watched the people dance. When the people who sponored the
square dance walked around the gym for half-cash she would buy
tickets. But only once she won the half-cash.
The second day she was there she went
to bingo because they were giving away $1 ,500 during the last game.
She didn't win, but after bingo was over she went to the square
dance, and this time she danced a lot more than the first night. She
mostly danced with her brother-in-law, John Peter, and tried to teach
him the waltz.
The third night she went to bingo
again, and this time she won the Jr. Jack Pot which was $785. On the
last game she had a chance to win the $1 ,500 give away but someone
else won it. When bingo was over again she went to the square dance
and stayed there until it quit.
The fourth day she took off for
Marshall on the first plane.
She hopes to go to Akiak again when
the Marshall Fiddlers go over.
