Mary Moxie's
Knitting
Christmas
My mom's vacation was mostly staying
home because she got sick on and off. But she also had some
fun.
This Christmas she enjoyed the New
Year's square dance for about two nights. During the dance they
raffled all kinds of items. That dance was a fund raiser put on by
both the Catholic and Russian Orthodox Churches, Search and Rescue,
Race Committee and other organizations.
At other times she knit gloves and
visited friends when she had nothing else to do.
After her vacation she had to get
ready for Slaviq (Russian Orthodox Christmas). She and I rearranged
our house so there would be more room in the house.
She followed the big star to one
house on Januray 7th. The following days she stayed home because it
was too cold out. As the star got closer to her own house she
followed it to three or four houses then went home and cooked some
things for her own Slaviq visitors.
When the star finally reached our
house she helped me and Augusta serve people what they wanted to eat
and drink. When we were done feeding she followed the star to other
houses until two in the morning.
