Julia's 63" Moose
Julia started her summer commercial
fishing with James Edison. They fished for Kings at their camp which
is located near lnrihak, and during the Chum season they fished down
river near the mouth of Poltys Slough. Only once they sold to M.FP.
because the fish prices at Boreal were much higher. This year they
did a lot better then last year.
When she wasn't fishing she also
worked with Home Care helping the elders with their vital signs and
housekeeping. She had to take their pulse, blood pressure,
temperature, and respiration. She also had to help them with their
cooking, cleaning, laundry, and personal hygiene. She says it was a
very stressful job.
On her free time she picked berries
and went for boat rides and hunting. She says she likes the country
because of the beautiful scenery. She also picked berries behind
their fish camp in a little slough.
A couple weeks ago she and James went
out moose hunting up river. They caught a big bull moose that had
antlers with a 63 inch spread. During the trip they had a lot of fun
but at times she was scared, especially at night. The trip was worth
it, though.
At this time she is very happy to be
a cook at the school again. She is planning on being a cook as long
as she can.
Her future plans are to continue to
work as the school cook.
