Frank Keim's classes. He has wanted to share these works for others
to use as an example of Culturally-based curriculum and documentation. These
documents have been OCR-scanned. These are available
for educational use only.
Katemal's Summer
School
Over the summer Katemal was up at the
school working with Nick Duny and Paul Boots. They were putting up a
new storm entrance door on the west side of the school building.
After doing this, they painted the classrooms and hallways, shampooed
the carpets, and waxed the floors. As they do every year, they got
the school ready for the students to start in late August.
Other than working in the school,
Katemal went out on short boat rides over to the sand bar during hot
days. He also went out commercial fishing in July. When he finished
commercial fishing, he went down to St. Mary's for square dancing.
After returning from St. Mary's, he and his family went up to the
Kuik area to pick berries. Then just before school started he went
out by boat to pick up a few logs to bring home to use in his stove
during the winter.
