Little
School on the Yukon
Whenever we think of the month of
November we think of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving means different
things to different people. For adults we think of big dinners, big
family gatherings, and other social events. Students think of the
above plus no school on the last Thursday and Friday of the
month.
This is my favorite time of the year.
This is the time we look back over the past year and reflect on the
things we have to be thankful for.
I'm thankful for many things. First
for my family-- my wife and seven children (six girls and one boy)
and seven grandchildren (six boys and one girl) who are scattered
over the three states of Arizona, Idaho, and Utah. Miles make them
far away but memories keep them close.
I'm thankful for the health I enjoy
along with my family's.
I'm thankful for my extended family.
By that I mean the village of Marshall. I appreciate your acceptance
of me as school principal and being a member of your community. I
enjoy visiting your homes and the school events that we share
together.
I'm thankful for the staff we have at
our school. We have one of the best faculties that I have ever had
the opportunity to work with. It is a staff that truly cares and is
concerned with the success of each one the students in their class.
It is a staff that works as a team in helping students not only in
their education but, along with you, in preparing them for their
later life.
I'm thankful for the "team" effort of
the school and community. As we have heard so many times, it takes an
entire village to raise a child.
I'm thankful for the support everyone
has given the school. I know you will continue giving this support in
educating your children and securing our future. This is a unique
village, and for this I'm thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving!
