My Millennium
Holiday
I had a very enjoyable holiday break.
It started out with lots of emotion and anxiety as the weather was
very questionable for leaving Marshall on the 22nd after school. In
fact, some of the teachers from other sites that had left the
previous Friday were either stranded in Bethel or Anchorage. But the
one above smiled on us that day and we were able to travel
out.
I enjoyed being home with my family
for the entire holiday in the Salt Lake City area. Part of the time I
was able to spend time with Natalie and go to some of her school
events. The high school she attends let out for the holidays on
December 23rd and started back on January 3rd, so I was able to watch
her cheer lead and play in a basketball league called Junior
Jazz.
Christmas was spent in our home with
Carol and Natalie, two of our daughters and their husbands, our grand
kids, and my boy who lives in Phoenix who flew up to spend Christmas
with us. The day after Christmas my daughter and her three boys flew
up from Idaho. Yes, Santa found us.
For the millennium celebration, Carol
and I went with my older daughter and her husband to what was called "Bull Riders," which
was two hours of continuous riding of bulls by cowboys. This event was held in
the Delta Center or the same place
the Utah Jazz played their basketball games. It was exciting. It was
special also for me, as one of the cowboys happened to be one of my
former high school students from Arizona. Following the bull riding
events, a concert featured country western singer, Shelly Wright and
another singing group called She-Daisy, which brought in the new
century, Year 2000. It was fun.
All in all, what I enjoyed most was
spending time with my family. For me, that's what it's all about,
family!
