Traveling with
Lena
After getting laid off on Dec. 30th
of last month, I tried my best to enjoy my New Year's. I had to work
with the student council on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day during
the fiddle dances at the school gym. We made a lot of money and had a
lot of fun doing so. I also really enjoyed watching the fireworks
display put on by the city.
On January 4th, I started to babysit
for Roberta Fitka because she had to escort her mother to Anchorage
for medical problems. I babysat Jordan and Jaz for one week. That was
a real challenge! A few days after Roberta got back, on the 14th, I
went to Pilot Station with Lena. We traveled down to watch the men's
basketball tournament. We came back to Marshall on the 16th, and I
went back to work at the clinic on the 18th.
On January 21st, Lena and I traveled
to Kalskag to watch part of the Kuskokwim 300. We got to see Martin
Buser, Tony Browning and other K-300 mushers. On January 23rd, we had
a long, stormy trip home on the soft wet trail. I had fun traveling
with Lena, especially when we were crossing open and sometimes deep
creeks.
My vacation was not as fun as I
thought it would be, but I enjoyed it.
