Marshall
Cultural Atlas
This collection of student work is from
Frank Keim's classes. He has wanted to share these works for others
to use as an example of Culturally-based curriculum and documentation. These
documents have been OCR-scanned. These are available
for educational use only.
Andy Boots
Home School Coordinator
Andy was born on October 18, 1952, at Ohogamiut. From birth
through age seven he grew up at Ohogamiut. Then they moved down here
to Marshall. He went to high school at Chemawa Indian School in
Chemawa, Oregon. He graduated from Chemawa when he was eighteen.
Andy has worked at the school for about twenty-one years and plans
to work here until he's tired of working. He likes his job because
there are a lot of challenges trying to correct poor attendance. He
works mostly with the parents and the grandparents to try to do this.
He became interested in his present job when he was working as a
teacher aide. He figured he needed a change.
After he got his job he needed training in computers since
everything is computerized today. He needed to know how to use modems
and faxes and E-mail, etc. His job keeps him stimulated because of
his contact with the students and parents. The best part of his job
is dealing with the problems parents have with their kids. He feels
he can do this well because he is also a parent of two boys. The
worst thing about his job is when the kids get really stubborn and
won't come to school.
