Gone
Camping
Right after school got out, my family
and I tried to go down to our camp but we ended up waiting for a
week. After a week passed, we gathered up our camping stuff and went
to camp. We stayed there for three days, then we went home to get
more grub. We had to wait for my dad to come back from commercial
fishing before we went back down to camp. While we were waiting, I
got into trouble and had to do some community service for the
MFP.
After commercial fishing was over, we
finally went down to camp and stayed there for two days. We kept on
going back and forth from camp to Marshall. I wanted to stay up here
in Marshall because camp was boring. My mom said it was okay, but in
order for me to stay here in Marshall, I had to stay at my auntie
Linda's. Instead, I stayed at my own house. While I was here, I hung
out with my friends, baby sat for my aunties, went on boat rides and
helped my gram cut fish. I also went over to the sandbar a couple of
times to swim with the other kids. During the night, I was being
mischief.
Once this summer I went to St. Mary's
to visit. I stayed down there for three days. Not too long after that
my parents moved back to Marshall from camp because they couldn't
trust me being alone.
In July, I went to Russian Orthodox
Youth camp down at Achuelenguq, and ended up having lots of fun
there. Once during church services when Father Stan's wife Matuska
Anna looked up at a spruce tree, she thought the branches were shaped
like an Orthodox cross. I told Father Stan and he took pictures of
it. While at camp, Father Stan and Nick Isaac told us stories about
how to survive in the wilderness. We also had church services,
religion classes and went on nature walks.
I also went to Pilot Station for
fiddling and stayed there for two days. I mostly hung out at the Dome
which is the teen center at Pilot.
It was a fun summer for
me!
