Ann Fitka
Clerk/Bookkeeper
Ann Fitka works as a clerk/book
keeper for the City of Marshall. She works six hours a day, five days
a week. All her training was done on the job. She says she had to
learn everything on her own.
Ann expects to work at this job as
long as she can. The people she works with most of the time are
Florence Peter and Alvin Owletuck Sr. Alvin is also her boss and the
mayor of Marshall.
Four responsibilities of Ann's job
are: taking the minutes of the meetings, preparing monthly financial
reports, writing and recording checks and doing pay roll.
The best things about Ann's job are
working with numbers and doing secretarial work. Ann says that she is
more relaxed in the office and that she likes being around the people
she works with. The worst thing about her job is not knowing enough
about computers.
The advice she gives the young people
who might want to do her job later is to take courses in bookkeeping
and in local government.
