Florence Peter
Bingo
Helper/Clerk
Florence Peter is a bingo helper and
clerk. She is employed by the City of Marshall and her boss is Alvin
Owletuck Sr. She works between one and six hours per day in the city
office. Florence works with people who are on welfare. She does
quarterly reports every three months, and she also opens the community
hall for bingo so everything can be set up to start the games. There
are 14 nights of bingo per month and each night they play 20 to 25
games. She mainly works with the other bingo players, but in the
office she works alone. She is getting paid $8.50 an hour and her pay
is raised every July depending on how much profit is being
made.
The best thing about her job is
working with math, making sure the gross amount earned from bingo
tallies with the number of games played. The worst thing about her
job is when she hears people complain about having too much bingo.
Her advice to the young students is to pay attention in math, finish
high school and go to college.
