Theresa Shorty
Family Service
Specialist
Theresa is the Family Service
Specialist here in Marshall. Her employer is AVCP Child Care. For
this job, she had to be a graduate, and she had to get one week of
training in Anchorage from the Office of Family and Youth
Services.
Theresa spends most of her time in
the city office where she works
six hours a day. Her bosses are
Helen Morris and Carolyn Heckman from AVCP. She has been working
there for the past nine months. She expects to quit this job on March
3, 1994. Four of her job responsibilities are making home visits,
reporting to the social workers, recording daily activities, and
recruiting for the city council.
Theresa doesn't know what the best
things are about her job, but the worst thing about her job is
interfering with broken families. Her advice to the younger people is
that, if they want her job, they'd better go to college
first.
