Barbie Fitka
Head Start
Director
Barbie is the Head Start Teacher
Director at the Head Start here in Marshall. Her employer is
RurAlcap. She has been working seven hours a day, Monday through
Friday, for six years. She expects to work as long as she can. Barbie
has a high school diploma.
Barbie spends most of her time in the
classroom with the Head Start students. She also spends time with the
kids' families, and with the staff. Four of her job responsibilities
are: working with kids, screening kids, making home visits to the
students' families, and doing the end of the month
paperwork.
The best thing about Barbie's job is
watching the kids learn. The worst thing about her job is problem
solving. Her advice to the younger people is to finish high school,
and if you know what you want to do, go for it.
