Old ending for dual (two) + -x:

Asxinux hilakux. The (two) girls are reading.

Hlax hilakux. The (two) boys are reading.

Old singular forms:

isux̂ = isuĝix̂ seal; plural isux̂is.

qahmix = qahmigix̂ door; plural qahmigis.

qagmang = qagmangix̂ emperor goose; plural qagmanqis.

These were consonant stems, that is, sterns ending in a consonant:

isux̂, isuĝ- + -is

qahmix, qahmig- + -is

qagmang, qagmang- + -is

The words asxinux̂ and hlax̂ have vowel stems, stems ending in a vowel:

asxinu-, hla-. Likewise the modern forms isuĝix̂, qahmigix̂, qagmangix̂, isuĝi-, qahmigi-, qagmangi- + singular -, plural -s.
